This painting was created in 2019 after the artist spent 3 months in Florence studying the works of Botticelli, Fra Angelico, and Perugino. It depicts Jacob's vision of angels ascending and descending a ladder to heaven that was described in the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. This work is saturated with religious ecstatic feeling intermingled with joy and triumph.
The piece has multiple layers of oil, gold powder, and iridescent pigment. Its texture is very rich and relief-like, reminiscent of Lorenzo Ghiberti's relief Gates of Paradise.
